BustingPacks.com Updated with New Layout

Posted by Dave Currie in Design

Building on the site design that I recently did for BustingPacks.com, the client wanted a way to add more content to the homepage without cluttering it up with all the images and videos from the actual posts. I decided to use the handy ‘Post Thumbnail’ feature of WordPress because it allows the author to set a custom thumbnail that will be used automatically for each post and look consistent throughout the entire site.

Now the site has a ‘Featured’ section at the top of the homepage which displays 3 prominent posts as set by the author. The categories are also listed down the page, displaying several posts from each and one post with a custom thumbnail. The client also wanted to add a Twitter Feed in the sidebar which was no problem. It’s looking totally cool with way more to look at, and it’s much more organized and easier to navigate than before. Check out the before and after shots!

This was a pretty short project that was somewhat of a challenge to figure out – I am by no means a WordPress or coding ‘expert’ – but the update has definitely given it a much needed facelift and drawn more traffic to the site. It looks like the site is on track to pass 10,000 visitors just this month!
